2010: The Most Vulnerable Democratic Congressman in Texas

... is Ciro Rodriguez, D-San Antonio — or at least that's what the big spenders at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee seem to think.

U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez, D-San Antonio, meets with constituents.

The most vulnerable Democratic Congressman in Texas is Ciro Rodriguez, D-San Antonio — or at least that's what the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee seems to think. According to The Hotline, an online political news site, the DCCC has put aside more than $7 million for a first wave of ad buys to shore up the most at-risk U.S. House incumbents around the country. The only Texas congressman on the list is Rodriguez, who faces a stiff challenge from Republican Francisco "Quico" Canseco. The Hotline reports that the DCCC is committing nearly $400,000, or more than 5 percent of its total spend, to the San Antonio market on Rodriguez's behalf. It has also another $52,000 dedicated to the El Paso market; Rodriguez's district includes part of El Paso County, but Republicans assume the money is meant to help a congressman just over the border in eastern New Mexico, The Hotline reports.
