In First TV Ad, Sadler Calls Cruz "Extreme"

With just more than a week until Election Day, former state Rep. Paul Sadler, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, released his first television ad Monday. He touts his experience and derides Republican Ted Cruz as "the most extreme Senate candidate in Texas history."

In the ad, Sadler highlights a string of accolades he earned while representing Henderson in the House during the 1990s, as well as endorsements he's received from several Texas newspapers. The campaign also posted a longer version of the ad that features letters of support to Sadler from U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Gov. Rick Perry when Sadler was in the Legislature.

Sadler campaign spokesman Chuck McDonald said the ad will run in "targeted markets" later this week. In an email to supporters Monday, the campaign asked for donations to pay for more airtime in the last days of the race.
