The Texas media production industry produces great returns

Our Texas Media Production industry has been leading the way in innovation as it navigates the challenges of COVID-19 and finds a way to keep doing business.

We are asking for the continued support of the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP) ​which stimulates local economies and encourages economic impact through ​qualifying film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, video game and extended reality (XR). These grants are designed to build the Texas economy through diversification of industries, as well as job creation for Texans in the media production sectors. Our conservatively written program produces an impressive $5.11 return for every $1.00 granted.

Established in 2007, the incentive grant program has a proven track record as a great return on the state’s investment. Funded last session at $50 million, it resulted in $5.11 of in-state spending for every $1 granted.

As we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas is in a great position to harness new and innovative industries and become the go-to state for media production. Our industry is part of the solution as we create jobs, diversify our state economy, and have a tremendous impact in communities all across Texas.

Over $18 million was brought into a Film Friendly Community within 88 days of filming. With 150+ of these communities throughout Texas, as well as countless small businesses that are directly affected by media production and thousands of individuals who make up the workforce, our grant program produces great returns and will kick our Texas economy back into high gear.
