Anna Canizales was a 2021 reporting fellow and a part-time copy editor. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, she was an associate news editor of The Daily Texan, where she worked in various roles covering politics, breaking news and the university’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. Anna was a government major and a member of the UT chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
Under Gov. Greg Abbott’s order, universities are able to choose whether they will retain and enforce mask-wearing and other COVID-19 safety measures. UT-Austin, Baylor, Southern Methodist University, Rice and the Texas A&M System are among those that will still require face masks. Full Story
