Join us Dec. 11 for a conversation with Uvalde Leader-News publisher Craig Garnett
Sign up for The Brief, The Texas Tribune’s daily newsletter that keeps readers up to speed on the most essential Texas news.
The Tribune hosts a one-on-one conversation with Craig Garnett, owner and publisher of the Uvalde Leader-News and author of the new book “Uvalde’s Darkest Hour,” which includes first-hand accounts of the horrific 2022 Robb Elementary shooting. Garnett’s book chronicles the journey his newspaper and the Uvalde community have navigated as they’ve tried to heal, make sense of the incomprehensible and seek meaningful change on the local and state levels.
Interviewing Garnett is Tony Plohetski, investigative reporter at the Austin American-Statesman. Plohetski was the lead reporter for the Statesman’s groundbreaking coverage of the 2022 Uvalde school shooting that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for public service.
A book signing will follow the conversation, and copies of “Uvalde’s Darkest Hour” will be available to purchase.
