Text with The Texas Tribune for 2022 election news and resources
Sign up for The Brief, our daily newsletter that keeps readers up to speed on the most essential Texas news.
We have used The Texas Tribune’s texting service to deliver updates during critical moments — the 2021 winter storm, power shortages and COVID-19 surges. Now we want to help you navigate another pivotal moment — the 2022 elections.
Starting this week, we will expand our texting line to guide Texans through the primary runoffs and the November midterm elections process.
To join the texting line, text “hello” to 512-967-6919, visit this page or enter your details below.
Here’s what you can expect: all the must-know news about state and federal elections in Texas through weekly texts, and a venue to send your questions.
We will also continue to send you breaking news alerts in times of crisis — be it about the power grid or developments about the COVID-19 pandemic. Those messages will be rare; we will text you about crises when we have information to share that will change the way you live your day-to-day life.
We are using a service called Subtext to help us make this happen for our audiences. You can read more about Subtext here. It does not sell user data or phone numbers to advertisers or other third parties.
We already publish voter guides, write explainers about what’s on the ballot and help readers who email us questions about voting. Our goals now are to create a two-way street to share essential election information, including reminders of voting deadlines and requirements; help people with voting issues as quickly as possible; and give you the opportunity to inform our reporting.
Have a problem voting? Let us know. Have a question about a race or policy topic? Send us a text.
We may not be able to respond personally to every reader, but we’ll do our best to respond to commonly asked questions and concerns.
We’re also working on more efforts to help Texans — not politicians — set the agenda this election season. We will want to hear your policy priorities and questions after the primary runoffs. More on that later.
Tickets are on sale now for the 2022 Texas Tribune Festival, happening in downtown Austin on Sept. 22-24. Get your TribFest tickets by May 31 and save big!
