Underground reservoirs proposed to save water in Texas
The newest idea in dealing with water shortages in Texas is a network of underground reservoirs to capture excess water from rivers. State Rep. Lyle Larson, R-San Antonio, is preparing legislation to create the water equivalent of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, although environmentalists caution that care should be taken to protect "environmental flows" that ensure enough freshwater reaches Texas bays.
