Facing Budget Cuts, Chicago Schools Turn to Parents For Lobbying Help
Schools across the Chicago area are hosting budget forums to help parents understand exactly what changes proposed budget cuts will have on their community’s classrooms and what they can do to lobby state legislators for more funding. Threats against the quality and quantity of free public education has parents in a panic. Many are attending the public information sessions and some have heeded their principals’ calls for help by writing letters to lawmakers. (Chicago Sun Times)
