Florida Debates Revenue Sources for Increased Ed Budget
Some state legislators have taken issue with Florida Gov. Rick Scott's proposal for a $500 million increase in education funding, with the majority coming from taxpayer money. Because property values are increasing across the state, paying more for school funding doesn’t necessarily mean taxpayers would be spending more in state taxes total. This issue, however, remains contentious, with some offering a 50/50 split between state and taxpayer funding for K-12 programs. (Miami Herald)
