District Keeps Deal for Transgender Student in Locker Room
School officials in Township High School District 211 in Chicago declined to rescind their settlement with the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights granting locker room access to a transgender student. Members of the local community had appealed to the board to reverse the decision. In a heated gathering of over 600 attendees, where supporters and critics talked on how they believed the decision affected them and their families, the board ultimately chose to uphold its original ruling.
