Scientists Call for Moratorium on Inheritable Changes to Human Genome
At an international conference in Washington, D.C., scientists said it would be “irresponsible’’ to proceed with gene editing that can be inherited until the ramifications are better understood. The meeting was spurred by a new gene editing method, called Crispr-Cas9, that allows physicians to alter genes in a way that is inheritable. (The New York Times)
