FDA Approves New Drug for Pancreatic Cancer
A new pancreatic cancer therapy from Merrimack Pharmaceutical Inc. was approved by the Food and Drug Administration, marking the company's first drug to get regulatory clearance. The drug – Onivyde – will carry a “black box’’ warning and is not approved for use as a single agent to fight pancreatic cancer, which is considered the “deadliest’’ cancer and accounts for 7 percent of cancer deaths.
