Office for Civil Rights to Issue Guidance for Special Education
Speaking to a meeting of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education last week, lawyers for the Department of Education’s office for civil rights promised additional letters offering guidance to state and district officials on how to interpret regulations already decreed at the federal level. In recent years, several such guidance documents were issued and cover disability issues like behavior-focused treatments for children with autism and programs to curtail bullying. (Education Week)
