Today we kick off our umpteenth (well, fifth) spring membership drive, and we're doing things a little differently this time around. Same level of ambition as ever, but with a twist: On day one — by 7 tonight — we'd like to sign up 100 new members. Fingers crossed that you'll not only help us reach that lofty number but exceed it.
There are a couple ways you can do your part. If you're not yet a member and you value the hard and important work of our nonprofit news org, sign up now! If you’re already a member, you can email your friends and family and encourage them to support the Trib — and be sure to tell them why you do. You can update your Facebook status with a polite (or aggressive!) suggestion that everyone in your feed become a member. Or you can tweet that you're on Team @texastribune. Be sure to use the hashtag #TribDrive2015, and link back to this post.
One hundred new members in the next 12 hours will have a huge impact. Nearly six years after our launch, we believe more than ever that substantive, nonpartisan coverage of state policy, politics and government paves the way to a more informed, more engaged Texas. Everything we do — the events we put on each week, at which elected officials, community leaders and regular Texans talk about the big issues of the day; the robust daily and investigative journalism we produce via the largest statehouse newsroom in the country; the reams of data we make available to the public in searchable, sortable, easily accessible fashion; and our famous livestreams of the Legislature, campaign rallies, breaking news and other you-gotta-be-there moments — is in service to the idea that a smarter state is a better state.
You make it possible. You make *us* possible. We can’t do it without you. Help us make this the best member drive yet by propelling us to and past our audacious goal.
