Duncan Stresses Need for More Male Teachers of Color

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recently highlighted the fact that America’s diverse K-12 classrooms are disproportionately led by white females, despite the fact that students of color now outnumber white students. Programs like TEACH, a public-private partnership, hope to recruit men of color to serve as educators and principals. Programs also focus on confronting hard truths like the fact that male teachers of color encounter unique personal and professional challenges. (NBC News)
