Report: Budget Cuts Will Hobble Education, Nutrition Programs
Over the next decade, federal spending on children’s education and nutrition will decline drastically, according to a report released by the Urban Institute, a public policy think tank. The report’s authors warn that by 2024, sequester-mandated budget cuts will carve $5 billion from K-12 education spending, while nutrition programs will lose $6 billion, putting the well-being of children and the nation at risk.
