Charles Perry Criticized on Water Votes in New SD-28 TV Ad

A new ad from Jodey Arrington hits State Rep. Charles Perry for not backing a state constitutional amendment on water.

Republican SD-28 candidate Jodey Arrington of Lubbock released a television ad critical of state Rep. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock — a rival in the special election to succeed Robert Duncan in the Texas Senate — for voting against a constitutional amendment to provide new funding for water projects across the state.

Water is a perennial concern in parched West Texas, and Arrington is hoping to get traction by highlighting Perry's position against last session's signature legislative effort to create new water supplies in Texas.

Early voting in the special election began on Monday and continues through next Friday. Election Day is Sept. 9. Four Republicans, one Democrat and one Libertarian are vying for the seat, left vacant when Duncan took the job of chancellor at Texas Tech University.
