The paddlefish, whose once-abundant population in Caddo Lake was almost extinguished, is being reintroduced to the lake in a collaborative experiment involving private, state and federal agencies.

The paddlefish, whose once-abundant population in Caddo Lake was almost extinguished, is being reintroduced to the lake in a collaborative experiment involving private, state and federal agencies. Part of a larger five-year project with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to alter how water is released from the Lake O' the Pines Dam, the experiment will allow the releases to better imitate the watershed's natural flows, thus helping the the paddlefish, one of the state's most threatened freshwater species, to survive.
