Abbott Enlists Chuck Norris — and His Facts — to Raise Money
A new fundraising effort by the Greg Abbott campaign enlists Chuck Norris and, in a humorous twist, references the popular internet meme "Chuck Norris Facts."
The letter, sent out under the name of the actor known for his portrayal of Walker, Texas Ranger, reads:
"You're no doubt familiar with 'Chuck Norris Facts.' For example, did you know that ghosts sit around campfires telling Chuck Norris stories?
"Now, I want to introduce you to a Greg Abbott Fact: Greg Abbott is Texas' best hope to fight the out-of-state attacks that aim to turn Texas blue.
"These attacks are no laughing matter. They're well-funded and well-organized. And that's why your help is so important."
Abbott spokesman Matt Hirsch confirmed the authenticity of the letter. "Chuck Norris has been a longtime supporter of Greg Abbott, dating back to his first campaign for Attorney General, and we're proud to have his continued support in the current campaign for governor," Hirsch said. "As Chuck Norris noted — Texas turning blue is no laughing matter."
