As the 2012 Republican National Convention continues, the 2014 race for Texas lieutenant governor is already heating up. Candidates confirm their political intentions this week in Florida.

Three statewide elected Republicans — Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples — have all confirmed interest in the 2014 lieutenant governor's race while at the Republican National Convention.

The Tribune is collaborating with YNN/Capital Tonight to provide convention coverage.
