Gov. Rick Perry attempted to laugh off his recent flubs during a Thursday evening visit to NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He opened the program on a lighthearted note by patting Leno on the back and reminding him that the third Kardashian sister's name is Khloe.
"It's just three names, Jay. It's not that hard to remember," Perry said. It was, of course, a clear reference to his own inability during last month's CNBC debate to remember all three agencies he would shutter as president.
Perry appeared as the second guest on the program, following television actress Melissa McCarthy and before musical guest T-Pain.
Aside from his debate brain freeze, Leno pressed Perry on a recent speech in New Hampshire, during which the candidate stated the voting age was 21 and the elections were taking place on Nov. 12. Perry suggested he may have been referring to the legal drinking age. Gaffes aside, Perry also took advantage of the national spotlight to discuss his flat tax and federal reform plans.
The Texas governor is in need of a comeback. His support has plummeted in recent polls, and he is now running behind several Republican candidates, including Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. The Perry campaign paired the Tonight Show appearance with a one-night only ad that features Perry poking fun at his "oops" moment.
