Two weeks after Gov. Rick Perry flew to Los Angeles to speak at an anti-abortion rally sponsored by Unidos Por La Vida, the video of his June 11 speech is finally available for viewing. (The governor's staff tells us they've been waiting for organizers to send them the video. You can view it below.)
Perry spoke before a largely Hispanic crowd from a huge stage at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Though he made a few attempts at speaking Spanish, an interpreter stood nearby to translate the governor's remarks.
In contrast with the lukewarm reception Perry received last week during a speech before Hispanic government leaders at a national conference in San Antonio, the audience in Los Angeles cheered Perry on.
"I will stand up with you for life... Until the day that Roe v. Wade is nothing but a shameful footnote in our history books, we cannot give up the fight!" he told the crowd.
Before exiting the stage, Perry encouraged the audience to pull out their phones and text 95613. He has done the same thing before finishing his speeches before other crowds around the country. Is he simply building a network, or could be be preparing for that big announcement we've all been waiting for? We'll have to wait and see.
