Texas Republican convention-goers not only support Arizona-style immigration laws — some are proposing "laser beams" and "electric wire" to keep more immigrants from crossing the border illegally.
An anonymous videographer infiltrated the convention and interviewed folks about their feelings toward illegal immigrants. Check it out:
The party platform passed at the convention is in line with these sentiments. It includes a call to limit citizenship by birth to those born to a U.S. citizen, ending bilingual education after the third year in school and making all non-citizens ineligible for state or federal college financial assistance.
The party's gubernatorial nominee, Gov. Rick Perry, has said the Arizona immigration law would not be right for Texas and supports the state law aiding illegal immigrant students. In a primary debate this year, he said students are on the path to citizenship.
