TribBlog: First Arizona, Now Texas?
ABC News reports that state Rep. Debbie Riddle, R-Tomball, will introduce a bill in the Texas Legislature similar to the controversial immigration measure passed into law in Arizona. Riddle says the proposed bill "gives law enforcement officers additional tools, if they have the reasonable suspicion that there is a violation of a law, to inquire into an individual's immigration status."
State Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, will likely be a co-author. Berman told our Ben Philpott and Austin ABC affiliate KVUE-TV that he's going to file the measure next session.
