Texas unemployment held steady at 8.2 percent last month, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. That's the same seasonally adjusted rate as in January, December, and November, but it's up from 6.8 percent in February of 2009.

More than one million Texans were unemployed last month in a labor pool of 11.1 million people, the agency reported.

The lowest unemployment (cities aren't seasonally adjusted) was in Amarillo, at 5.7 percent, followed by Midland at 5.8 percent, and Lubbock and College Station-Bryan, both at 6.0 percent. The highest rate in the state last month was in McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, at 11.8 percent, followed by Brownsville-Harlingen at 11.3 percent and Beaumont-Port Arthur at 10.7 percent.
