Democratic Lt. Gov. candidate Linda Chavez-Thompson will be appearing in selected Texas TV markets starting on Friday, with this colorful new spot.
The ad was shot in San Antonio at a VFW post. It was produced by Austin-based Message, Audience and Presentation, script and concept by James Aldrete and directed/produced by Margie Becker.
Aldrete says the aim here is to "reach out to a more apolitical audience".
"She challenges empty nesters and people without children to take on the responsibility of increasing graduation rates too by giving an hour a week to volunteer with our schools and mentor young students. And then she carries her message into political responsibility, encouraging working class families who have been underrepresented at the ballot box to get involved," Aldrete said.
This ad will play in border markets where the consultants think her message has a much broader appeal. More bang for the buck, if you will.
Chavez-Thompson is running against former Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle in the D primary for the job currently held by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.
