On the Records: The Lobby Latest
The latest lobbyist filings are now available in our database, which has nearly five years of spending records.
James Gill (Texas Credit Union League), Leslie Ward (AT&T), Susan Patten (Time Warner Cable), Mark Malone (Energy Future Holdings, et al.) and June Deadrick (CenterPoint) were among the biggest spenders on elected officials and employees through October 31, according to the records.
With all the dinners and parties associated with the session (and the lack of an advertising campaign), it's no surprise that lobbyists spent the most this year on food and beverages: $2.7 million worth. In all categories, lobbyists spent the most money — $1.3 million — on legislative employees. Their bosses — senators and representatives — were recipients of about $1.2 million of the lobbyists' money.
