2010: Smiles Instead of Fireworks in EP
Turns out it was all smiles at the El Paso County Democratic Party headquarters today afterall.
State Rep. Norma Chavez filed for reelection today at the same time as Jose Rodriguez, the former county attorney, filed to run for the Texas Senate seat that Eliot Shapleigh is vacating. The two earlier this fall seemed on course to run against one another for the seat, but Chavez decided to run again for the Texas House instead of giving the Senate a shot this time around.
In a departure from the typical infighting of El Paso politicos, the two were friendly with one another when their paths crossed today. At least long enough for a camera click or two.
