Photographer Todd and I spent Thursday in Houston at packed party for Farouk Shami, the Democrat who's now in the race for Texas governor. Nothing about this event was subdued. The massive white tent covered bright red carpet, the thumping bass of popular club tunes welcomed the guests, and campaign aides manned not just volunteer sign-up tables but the cotton candy and popcorn machines. This is your look inside the Farouk Shami candidacy coming out party.
